Who cares what Europe did? Europe also ended slavery long before we did. The south had to be forced to end it, just as they had to be forced to end segregation. One would have thought at least one state would have a majority of people wanting to end segregation. But for a 100 years they continued doing it. And it was brutal segregation. And when the south was forced to integrate they fought it like hell. In the 60's. One would have thought they would become civilized by then.
