There is still plenty of racial segregation in the North today. There is also slavery, where young blacks are enslaved for life by failed liberal policy which discourages black achievement. One of Barack Obama's greatest failures is that he has failed to unite young blacks around achievement and self reliance. As far as the minutia of what happened in Mississippi vs what happened in Harlem, it is pretty much not relevant at this point.
