Check link to Sports Illustrated 'blubba', that was their "byline" not my recommendation....that pony California Chrome & just two other horses were the only ones that competed the previous two races (in Triple Crown) the rest of the field yesterday were fully rested. It was sort of slightly biased like this thread, lol.
I'm not a horse-racing expert, but I'm guessing that none of these factors were any different back when the last Triple Crown winner made headlines.

Either way, Longnshort is right. You're basing a state's reputation on a dark horse (pun intended)?
