The valuation is low enough that a compelling value case can be made for this stock, but I dont think their Z-wave product line or platform are going to be successful in the IOT(internet of things) marketplace. Couple of reasons why, their product offerings are backward looking, that is the devices are what can be found in homes today. Devices like home entry locks and thermostats have already been proven to be ripe for disruption, like proven by Nest thermostat and a smaller and less well known company called lockitron.

These devices are cheap, minimal service and installation model. Nest is sold at home depot and simple to install. The UI(user interface) is very modern looking and appeals to the same crowd that the first iPhone's appealed too.

IMHO technology is migrating from a technology moat to a design moat. We are at a mature enough technological advancement stage that design and simplicity of usage seem to trump advancements in technology.

Who are SIGM's main customers? They cite security firms, but does anyone know exactly what is the business model?
