I think gunowners should get a break on homeowners insurance. I know of several instances where guns were used to protect a family and home.

People who pass background checks and are well trained perform a public service if they carry firearms. Restaurants and businesses ought to offer them a discount for patronizing their businesses.

I think it's a wonderful idea too, Bilow. Insurance companies would deny the insurance to people who clearly shouldn't have guns, or price the insurance so high that they wouldn't buy the guns. As with car insurance, anyone under 26 would pay MUCH higher rates. It would be gun control through private enterprise. Even Republicans might go for it.

What are they insuring? Theft of guns are already covered under homeowners. Misuse and homicide are not insurable acts. So what is the point, except to charge someone extra money for owning a gun?
