>> destroy an ally of the US and destabilize the ME to the point where we're now relegated to the Crusades again.

The ME has been unstable for as long as I can remember; and Saddam was responsible for a good deal of it. The idea that his removal is what "destabilized" the ME is ridiculous.

The ME was relative stable when Bush left office. That's all that can be expected of him. But the sixth year of incompetence from his successor, a totally rudderless presidency which has resulted in a totally rudderless foreign policy, has taken a fragile situation and turned it into a a free-for-all.

It is fair to argue with Bush's decision to go into Iraq; half the people in the US today disagree with the decision. It is not, however, reasonable to dump on Bush about what Obama has done or failed to do. The Middle East could have looked quite a bit different from the way it does not had we had competent leadership starting February '09.
