The neo cons have been trying to destroy the public school system and replace it with vouchers for private schools 40 years. So they choke off the money to public schools and then say: "see it doesn't work". Why would your idea about what a good teacher is be better than mine, or mine better than yours? We could never agree. So that is why we need public school run at the local level and let each one decide democratically what is to be taught. You are the one not thinking for yourself. I don't know anyone who had problems with the public school system except people who didn't do their homework. The Republican party has been blatantly anti intellectual. They fear higher education because as rick Santorum said" the kids have a tendency to become liberals when the go to college; and others are worried they will be taught facts that conflict with the bible. Like how old the earth is.
