"the three top things for longevity are"

genes,
avoiding accidents, hazardous occupations, and wars,
and

staying young

How To Keep Young Satchel Paige was taught the lessons of life by living them... 'Satchmo' or Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige had an unbelievable way with words that were more than legendary.

If ever a modern high-quality modern motion pitcure about a ballplayer needed to be made it would be about Satchmo, his life story, and his famous lists.

"I never threw an illegal pitch. The trouble is once in a while I toss one that ain't never been seen by this generation." - Satchel Paige

What's longevity if you're miserable, though?

IMO the most important things for life, be it long or short, are having a purpose and acting upon it; having curiosity and exploring the questions one is curious about; and service to others.

I'm not sure about statins. I tend to think the less drugs you take, the better. But I agree it's good to eat beneficial oils, and exercise. However, some people totally overdo things. Moderation, in all things- including exercise. Some people are nuts about exercise- and wind up tearing their heart muscles- you'll read about that phenomenon on the net. I think moderate constant exercise is probably the best lifelong pattern, rather than that aggressive stuff some people do (or even worse, the sedentary folks who become weekend warriors- I think they often drop dead from stress induced heart attacks.)
