Who cares what the military protocol is. Apparently you don't, since addressing a senator as "sir" or "ma'am" is considered a gesture of respect. Uh........you missed my point. The senator of CA wanted to be called senator rather than ma'am. What the senator wants takes precedence over military protocol. Comprendez? Let me remind you that a senator is far more important than a military officer Only a senator with a (D) at the end, right? All senators.......although R senators do make it difficult at time. I mean when they tell us they speak to kings and queens..........well.
