My dad used to joke about the businessman next door, who was introduced as "Joe Blow" and he corrected dad, saying, "Mr. Joe Blow." Just kind of comes across as insecure.

She asked to be called senator. That's her title.
When senators get caught up in "titles," they want to be treated like royalty.

Besides, Babs is from California, a state that doesn't get hung up on "titles" as much as, say, New York.

I think you and Dave are trying to make something out of nothing. Sorry.
