koan, I don't know what to say to you.

I can't imagine presenting your argument to a coal miner that's worried about his job and feeding his kids for another week.>>

What argument? We must stop global warming or everyone dies.

That is not the argument I want to present. if a coal miner is displaced I would be fine with paying him while he gets retrained or give him a GI bill to go to college. That is what we should be doing.

<<If you want to appeal to people you need to start from the "bottom" and work up. You seem to be starting at the TOP and hoping it will drift down. It's like a "trickle down" theory for intellectual thought.>>

I want to start at the bottom. Free pre school with hot meals for every child in America. Reestablisment of unions to get livable wages up. Neutering of the plutocrats and redistribution of money (higher taxes on rich) to help the poor and coal miners integrate into a new healthier society where there are better (safer) higher paying jobs and free school for at least 18 years from 3 to 21.

With increased productivity we can do all of that (i.e. America has plenty of money) with modern social planning. I have done that sort of thing from scratch three times in my life (read bio), so I know it can be done.
