Personally I think rhat long term the strong dollar is good for Atmel. In this business you constantly gotta build new fabs to stay ahead of the game. If you dont you are finished. Atmel is in the game to stay by making sure it builds the best. In my opinion foreign companies in asia are now on hold pending resolution of their currency crises. Witness the demolition of the fab manufactuters last week (klic, amat, lrcx, nvls etc. etc.). So who will compete with Atmel only American and possibly Japanese companies. In any case, companies in any other of these countries. ie. Korea, Taiwan are in the unenviable position of having to build plants that now cost twice as much as a few months ago. There goes half the competition.
