IMO the state is a very bad place controlled by a powerful white minority. [And TX defenders on this forum, don't bother to attack me........I ain't buying the nonsense that Texans are really nice people and the state is turning purple.] Its a malignancy that is growing more powerful in this country. It poses a serious danger to the Constitution and the Union. Barack Obama is a far bigger threat to the Constitution than anything else in this country today. I know you reading isn't your thing. But you may want to check out some of the writings of a REAL constitutional scholar, ultra-liberal attorney Jonathan Turley. A man who thinks like you do, but understand the Constitution. Turley is not an 'ultra liberal'. He's a libertarian with some liberal viewpoints. Libertarians is what Rs become when they can no longer stomach the doings of the GOP.In a December 2013 congressional hearing, responding to a question from Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) about the danger posed by President Obama's apparent unilateral modification of laws passed by congress, Turley said, "The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid. That is the concentration of power in every single branch. This Newtonian orbit that the three branches exist in is a delicate one but it is designed to prevent this type of concentration. There is two trends going on which should be of equal concern to all members of Congress. One is that we have had the radical expansion of presidential powers under both President Bush and President Obama . We have what many once called an imperial presidency model of largely unchecked authority. And with that trend we also have the continued rise of this fourth branch. We have agencies that are quite large that issue regulations. The Supreme Court said recently that agencies could actually define their own or interpret their own jurisdiction." [34] I understand you and others on this thread may have difficulty with the concept, but the president has done more damage to the Constitution than anything or anyone in history. Probably because he never read it. Constitutional scholar, indeed. Talk about a joke. en.wikipedia.org The power increased under Bush because the Rs controlled Congress and gave it to Bush. If, and that's a big if, the power has increased under Obama, its because Congressional Rs have become totally ineffectual. That's another reason for Rs to get some effective leaders in Congress.I understand you and others on this thread may have difficulty with the concept, but the president has done more damage to the Constitution than anything or anyone in history. Probably because he never read it. Constitutional scholar, indeed. Talk about a joke. I am sure Obama has forgotten more about the Constitution than you know. Now what are we going to do about Texas?
