It isn't warmongering to look out for your country's national security interests. I'm not promoting war, but sometimes wars are necessary to solve problems.

Our country is such that we cannot allow ourselves to have our oil supply cut off or otherwise impeded or even potentially impeded.

One day, perhaps in the not-too-distant future, this won't be a problem, but right now it is and you have to be realistic about it.

Whatever your position is or mine, we should both be cognizant of the facts of this change in global-political circumstance.

Whether we are fighters or not ISIL is, and it is waging an extremely gruesome and effective, take no prisoners war. People look at ISILs strength of force and declare that Bagdad is not at risk. What I know and everyone should consider is that this development is an "all call" to arms for Sunnis and Shi'ites around the world. In other words the number of ISIL forces could multiply over the next few weeks, just as the Iraqi Army forces currently are.

There are many questions that can easily be answered.

Which army demonstrates an unrelenting commitment to its goals?

To what extent can we imagine this engagement escalating?

At what point does this threaten regions outside of Northern Iraq?

To what extent does it threaten the Interests of the Western World?

At what point is it a direct threat to the Western World?

At what point is it a direct threat to the USA?

===========================================

At this point the history of conflict and the role the US has played is just a game of finger pointing, with little value. Can we find a creative solution which results in peaceful coexistence? I don't see one.
