>> To call it cheerleading is just stupid and obnoxious.

He wasn't cheerleading. He believed, just as the Bush administration did, that the Iraqi people would seize the opportunity they were given, as did I. All three were wrong.

Friedman, for at least two or three years afterward kept saying, time and again, "The Iraqi people are going to have to make a decision within the next SIX months." Pretty soon a couple years had gone by, things had gotten really bad, and he was still waiting on the decision to be made.

Friedman had a lot of background on the Middle East. As did the people who were calling the shots in the Bush Administration. Everyone turned out to be wrong. Friedman, like all Democrats, ran from their words. Bush didn't have the luxury.

BREAKING: Baghdad International Airport Under Attack

There are Americans there. Obama doesn't care .. they're on their own. You'd think Democrats would be all over Obama to make sure he avoids a BenghaziX100 tragedy. Do they really want to have to mount another "What difference does it make" defense of a Presidential stand down?

Earlier in the evening Baghdad International Airport came under shelling from Mortars operated by ISIS forces.

The first few fell within a few hundred feet of the airports runway but it seems ISIS has finally figured out how to operate mortars and has finally found the runway.

The present shelling is unconfirmed but the images being posted to Twitter seem to be authenticated by what people living in Baghdad are saying.
