The discussion I am having is about natural human rights, particularly those founded upon self protection. This is a well established reference. Natural rights and human needs are not the same thing, although they are related to some extent. I have limited my argument to the hierarchy of human needs of which the most basic is survival, not self protection. The basic element of survival is food and shelter...in some cases you might have to protect your food, but that is beside the point. Your right to a gun doesn't appear until many thousands of years later and to this date the only animal on the planet that uses a gun is the human..
