Well Said Zebra,

I'm amazed at all the nit-picking (both here and from Paine-Webber
in the CC) at trying to second-guess the company's production
figures like this is another BRE-X. What do you guys want,
some kind of real-time production counter on the Vivus web-site? And full-time audit teams from KPMG and Price-Waterhouse on the
production floors? Gimme a Break!

As far as Michael I. Levitt goes, I for one am glad to see that
they hired someone who achieved a heck of a lot with *just*
a B.S. in Pharmacy. To me (someone who gets a lot of mail
addressed to me as "Dr." for no reason), that means he gets
things done.

Just a reminder. If they make 20 cents this Q4 (down from 56 cents
in Q3), they'll make $1.05/share for the year. If share price stays flat, the TTM PE will be 11.5--pretty darn cheap considering the I/B/E/S forecast of 75% year-to-year growth for FY 98.

My hat goes off to Leland for keeping his temper in the CC and not snapping at the idiots from The Street who kept trying to show him a liar.

Cheers, David

Zebra, I hadn't connected the two press releases in quite that way before- I think that is very perceptive and bears repeating: They sensed the problem, brought in a guy well experienced in that area, gave him a week to assess the situation, and then gave the shortfall release.

<<So, they went for help, and now they have help. Not end of story but you can hardly say they dragged their feet in recognizing and addressing the problem.>>

I agree with your post. However, it is easy to know you have a problem when you see and feel the fire. VVUS management should have anticipated the problems before the smoke began. The current window of opportunity- the sole non-injectable ED product in the market- is rapidly closing.

Best of luck!
