"God is an irresponsible criminal mastermind encouraging and participating in genocide"

It's not terribly inaccurate, as long as you also point out how he was also highly responsible for the care of his own people, much in the manner of godfather Marlon Brando. As long as we followed rules like "don't murder" , "don't sleep around", "don't eat bacon", "no matzah without circumcision", "marry your dead brother's widow", and "follow this simple guidebook for farming and ranching", we were given food and drink out in the middle of nowhere (so it says), instant reparations for slavery (an item again, in the US), and bountiful crops thruout the kingdom, once the kingdom was forged.
And so, in conclusion, we must have quit following the rules around 725 BC; maybe "Thou shalt not murder".

Hoshea was the last king of the Israelite Kingdom of Israel. Assyrian records basically confirm the Biblical account of how he became king.
According to 2 Kings, Hoshea conspired against and slew his predecessor, Pekah ( 2 Kings 15:30), in whose army Hoshea had previously served as a captain.
