I think it is a good example of the need for zero tolerance. Even though Bush's transgressions were relatively mild, Obama has built on those and and left Bush in the dust when it comes to violating the Constitution. I did support most of Bush's actions. I rationalized it as necessary in the circumstances. But I really did not have the vision to comprehend that future presidents would expand the concept by orders of magnitude. I was thinking more like FDR, where the people supported those actions because of the war, then things would sort of return to normal. That's not what happened. Obama used them to open up a new frontier in the presidential power grab that should scare the shit out of anyone who understands what has happened. And if Obama can do it, so can Hillary (or whoever is elected). This "trend" needs to be killed now, before Obama is finished. If not, it will just continue at an accelerating pace, until we are a dictatorship. Although we hear that the courts don't like to sort out problems with the separation of powers, the Republicans in Congress are absolutely failing to protect the Constitution. It is on them, not on Obama for seizing the power. They are supposed to be the "check and balance" on Obama, not vice-versa. That the Republicans are unwilling to bring suit against Obama is outrageous to me. I don't buy the argument that they don't have "standing". One thing is certain: the Supreme Court is one poorly placed heart attack from an absolute disaster. If we ended up with Warren replacing Alito, for example, there really may be no coming back from it.
