>> Um, those were investigations into abuses of power. All government business is to be preserved, by law. Those accounts were used for government business, some of the preserved emails show that.

In the first place, there was no scandal. A president who wants US attorneys fired can just have it done. He doesn't need a reason, nor should he, and the reason can damned well be whatever he wants it to be. If you can't find a reason to fire an attorney you're just not trying.

If someone wants to go after these politicians for using the RNC server for emails, they could go for it. But they didn't. No one was charged, no one was tried, no one was convicted. And no one was taking the 5th. And there was no legitimate abuse of presidential power. And there was no indication of any intention to hide the emails.

The RNC's policy was to delete emails after a month. That is pretty different from deleting emails after having received a notification that all records are to be preserved. When there was still a six month window during which they could have been recovered from backups. And then destroying the hard drive which was "blamed" for the problem.

If you cannot look at what is happening here are recognize the criminal abuse of power, and actually be critical of it, that's a problem with you, not anyone else. There is no similarity in the scope or significance of this event and the RNC's normal deletion of junk mails they send out trying to raise money. Shit.

It seems to me you have no principle, whatsoever, that you can stand on.
