It's not unfair to think he screwed up when he essentially said that ALL Sunnis would become second class citizens.

The Iraqi military WAS a mess, but it could have been reconstituted so that Sunnis could have retained their jobs while also incorporating a large influx of Shiites.

As far as saying that NO Baathist could work for the government.....that's the same thing as saying no Sunni could work for the government. If you were Sunni and wanted to work in the government you HAD to be part of the Baathists. To say otherwise would be like saying you wanted to drive long haul trucks but you didn't want to be a Teamster.

Bremer ISOLATED the Sunnis and gave them a good idea about what their future would be in the new Iraq.

If YOU had been an ordinary Sunni in that position you TOO would have gotten a gun and looked for a fight if you were any kind of a man.
