sh, I'd guess that Ledoux are mostly concerned with contamination of
the sample preparation procedure and the assay procedure itself. Note the following from the Dec.11/97 nr:

During the month of November, Dr Al Johnson and one of his assistants spent two weeks at the Ledoux & Co laboratory providing additional instructional guidance to the Ledoux staff. They addressed and corrected certain aspects of the preparatory process as well as the assaying procedure

That last sentance concerns me. Just what corrective action was taken
to the preparation of the sample and the assay procedure? Whatever it was, the Ledoux staff were not familiar with this technique and had to be instructed in how to carry it out. Contamination does not have to be deliberate but could be caused by the new preparation process.
I don't blame Ledoux for being cautious at this point. Their reputation is on the line. Just my opinion of course.
