"Is it FREE to the Service Provider? No, of course it is not Free to the Service Provider."

Right!

And - since it *isn't* 'free', and in fact presents huge costs to medical providers they must either:

1) Get help from government (so the taxpayers pay) to cover their losses,

and/or:

2) Raise prices they charge to EVERYONE ELSE in the system (read: those responsible folks who *have* insurance pay through higher insurance bills and higher out-of-pocket) to cover the losses. (That explains those $50 cotton swabs on my last hospital bill, and partly explains why my insurance isn't cheaper!),

and/or:

3) They must (like any business) eventually go out of business if they can't cover their costs and continue to post losses. (Thus we have the cutting edge of rural hospitals going out of business all over this land... but especially fast in States which have not expanded the portion of their populations covered by health insurance).
