To all: As I tried to explain in my first post after my visit: I brought a copy of Lauren's post about the Taiwanese problems with me to the company, and began to question Baker about the post; he interrupted me and showed me a copy of the same post. He then stated that there was an element of truth in the allegations, but they were being considerably misrepresented. He said also that he felt he knew who was spreading the misinformation, and blamed it on a "disgruntled, ex employee." He further stated that, in contrast to the post, they were working very closely with the people who purchased the machines, and that the problem was being satisfactorily resolved. He began to try to explain the technical problems to me, but my knowledge about MRI and Imaging equipment, if inserted into an ant's rectum, would be like a BB rolling around in a boxcar, so I kind of cut him short. I wsa more interested in seeing the rest of the place. He then introduced me to an oriental gentleman who was working on a computer, who he said had just returned from Taiwan, and was solving the software problem. The man nodded when he said that to me.

Again, I went through the whole bldg. [over 100,000 sq. ft.], saw no evidence of any attempts at packing or getting ready to vacate; everything seemed in place. They have room which Baker called the "exhibition room", which contained a complete MRI setup, and many other imaging type machines. Bakers office was modest, and was wall to wall pictures of him with various oriental dignitaries, and photos of their Chinese operation. All in all, quite impressive.

Should any of you decide to come down here (for vacation or any other reason) Email me and let me know. I will gladly provide you with my home phone number, and meet you and escort you to the facility, as well as buy you dinner. You all seem like very nice people and I would love to meet you.

GeneM

p.s., as I did try to state, however, my impression was that, although he said the paperwork has been filed, he specifically said the 10k would be public this month; he did not mention Monday.

Addendum: I think I mentioned in an earlier post that he [Baker] gave me a copy of an article from StockBroker magazine [November, 1997]. I don't know how to get the whole article in, but here is an excerpt that would allow some checking-up:

"Universal's investment banker, Sands Brothers & Co., Ltd., through Capstone & Company, LLC, a New York based merchant banking company, has arranged a commitment of up to $8 million for purchase order financing for Universal's CT Simulator systems enabling Universal to obtain additional orders for its CT Simulator systems."

Possibly a call to them would unearth something.

Archie; Just got back on the thread and noticed that I've been busy in my own absence. I think the confusion occurred because HG and I look so much alike. I do live up North. Too much white collar crime in Florida.
