I bought some LEAPS and sold some puts in EFII on Friday; my first venture into this stock since when it went public. Then I bought some IPOs (before I knew about IPOs), got nervious, and got out with some small gains. This is a high, high flyer. The company is strongly tied to the Israelie (sp) high-tech sector and has a long history with Sitex; those who left kind of were the start of Sitex's tech downfall.
Anyway, this morning I questioned whether my bullish view was waranted. If you go over to the Tech Wire site you will find an article on Sculley and his Live Picture. He is making predictions for '98 that would very dramatically impact companies such as EFII and ADBE. He is talking- and supposidly demoed - technolgy that will do away with TIFs and GIFs and other old graphic file formats (file size and speed is the name of the new game). Of course, Sculley has never been very good at forecasting (maybe better at marketing?).
Long term, we need to figure out how this all fits with EFII? Does this replace color profiles, etc. , is there a big potential market for Live Picture's technology, and who will develop and hold this technology? Anyone with ideas as to the long term impact of this of EFII?
