Since we're discussing preservation of capital -- how bout your opinion on an individual stock? I've been trying to decide whether to hold hoping for a pre-earnings jump or not: BRKT? My cost basis is about 10.3. Can't decide what to do. Last tech stock in my account.

Zeev, I personally think in a bear market it is smart of have a few shorts. If we have some deflation here preservation of capital will require us to at least maintain buying power of our financial assets. As far as book value..when a company is in trouble and probably will go out of business the book value can decrease to 10 cents on the dollar or less. Not that I am recommending shorting stocks that are at or below book value, there are to many stocks that are over priced right now.
