School Principals Use Police Against Parents with Gun Permits
..........................................................................................
Gun Watch ^ | 25 June, 2014 | Dean Weingarten

Two principals in widely separated states tried to use police against parents with gun permits. Both principals ended up on the losing side, when the parents refused to fold, and took them to court. In the most recent case, the principal at Stratton Elementary School in Massachusetts contacted police after the father showed the principal his gun permit. The father had come to talk to the principal about a drawing the son had made. From whdh.com:

The principal said the boy had drawn a phallic symbol, but 40-year-old Robert Goodwin said his son had actually drawn a gun similar to one he’d seen in ‘Despicable Me.’

Goodwin then reportedly took out his gun permit and the principal notified police.
The police charge Goodwin with threatening the principal, suspended his gun permit, and confiscated a rifle from his home:
Officers later went to his home where they took away a hunting rifle; his gun license has also been suspended. Under oath, the principal admitted that he did not feel threatened, and the charges were dropped. There is no mention of whether the rifle was returned or the gun permit restored.
When questioned under oath, the principal told a clerk magistrate he did not feel threatened. By itself, this is an interesting story: A principal using the police to harass a gun owner. It reminded me of another story out of Georgia that had a similar theme. In it, the principal had contacted the police to ban the parent from school because she had a picture of her carry permit on her facebook page. From ljreview.com:

In what I’d call a severe case of overreacting, Army veteran Tanya Mount was banned from her disabled daughter’s elementary school after she posted a photo of her concealed weapons permit online. The mother, who often volunteered at the school, said she was approached by a police officer near campus one day and warned that Principal Janina Dallas had filed a “no trespass order” against Mount. Tanya Mount transferred her daughter to a different school. The principal later claimed that the permit was not the reason for banning Ms. Mount from the school. A settlement was reached in which the school paid $1,000 and legal fees, according to wrdw.com:
Tanya Mount said she'll receive $1,000 and an undisclosed amount for legal expenses. Taken separately, these two cases might be dismissed as odd incidents. Together they reinforce the idea of schools as intolerant, politically correct bastions of citizen disarmament orthodoxy. How many of these cases exist, where the victim with the permit did not have the courage or wherewithal to fight the system in the courts? How many of these cases never make the news, because most police have more sense? I would appreciate any information about other cases.

Was there another case in Michigan where a parent was harassed for having a gun permit? My memory is not as good as it once was.

This is one of many reasons why you shouldn’t advertise you carry or have a carry permit. Keep it to yourself if for no other reason than that it’s always a big advantage to have surprise on your side.

i am sorry but, why in the world does anybody other than liberals who cannot afford private school send their children to government school? for the life of me, i do not get it... i do not know if those parents with gun permits in this story are conservative, but if they are—well, you send your kids to government school, you have to deal with government employees... and most of them are against the very things you are for...

Like George Zimmerman did. OTOH, I’ll bet the guy that ended up dead in a theater would not have thrown popcorn on the guy if he had known he was carrying.

An armed society is a polite society.

Yes, homeschool or put your kid in private school. The public school system is a cesspool.

I live in Oklahoma, where we have open carry. My first thought in considering whether or not to throw popcorn on someone open carrying isn’t whether or not he’ll shoot me. That’s not about “politeness.”

Actually, I think it is. It’s how MAD worked (Mutual Assured Destruction). The reason we have not had WWIII yet is the fear of it going nuclear. When you’re facing a guy you never met and he’s asking you to do something regarding your use of your cell phone, you are actually less likely to throw popcorn on him if you see an open carry sidearm on him. You don’t want to escalate the situation. And not throwing popcorn is more polite than throwing popcorn. So the overt presence of a gun reduces (but doesn’t eliminate, if you have brass ones) the amount of impolite behavior.

FWIW, this is one reason I KNOW George Zimmerman didn’t start the physical stuff with Martin. The guy without a gun is the guy who escelates physically. And that is impolite.

It Is Treason...
....................................................................................................
Mononymous1/Wordpress ^ | 6/25/2014 |if the President of the United States and his government conspired with the Mexican government to deliberately let children from Central America transit through that country on their way to the United States. The evidence does suggest this: (1) the solicitation at FedBizOpps calling for “chaperones” for these children indicate that the government knew the in flux was coming and (2) it is highly unlikely that the Mexican government would have their southern border be invaded by Central Americans. What happened here? Did the kids explain that they were on their way to America? How and why did Mexican officials believe this? Contrary to what they demand from the US, their southern border is not porous.

So, what we appear to have is a conspiracy for a type of fast and furious; this time, dealing with children. Mexico was probably funded for this effort or else they were told that this will help the cause of amnesty for their nationals in the US or both. This is treason but what it also shows is that the Federal government is incapable of doing one of those things it is actually supposed to do, protect the country from invasion, secure its borders. And yet, these people want to tell us how to live every &%$#ing minute of our lives…

SHOCK VIDEO: Woman Violently Beaten as Toddler Tries To Intervene; Bystanders Watch, Record On Phones...

SALEM, N.J. (CBS) — A fast-food worker in full uniform viciously attacked a young mother in front of the victim’s young son and the entire attack was caught on tape.

The attack happened Tuesday in the city of Salem, New Jersey and video of the assault was later posted on Facebook.

The suspect has been identified by the Salem City Police Department as 25-year-old Latia Harris. When apprehended, Salem City Police Chief John Pelura, III says Harris faces charges of aggravated assault and two counts of terroristic threats.

In the video, a woman wearing a McDonald’s uniform is shown attacking another woman.

The victim falls to the ground and while on the ground, the suspect punches the victim approximately 20 times.

As the attack is going on, the victim’s toddler son is seen pleading for the suspect to stop and tries to kick the suspect in an attempt to make her stop.

At one point during the video, the suspect can be heard saying: “You better get your son before I kick him in the face too!”

Salem police chief to assault suspect Latia Harris: 'Turn yourself in'

SALEM — Salem City Police Chief John Pelura III has a simple message for video beating suspect Latia Harris: "Turn yourself in. You've been charged and you are going to have to face the consequences."

Harris, 25, of Salem remained on the lam Friday, Pelura said.

Police Friday also released an updated photo of Harris.

She was seen in an amateur video that was posted briefly to social media savagely beating another woman Tuesday night on a dirt path on the east side of the city.

Pelura said Friday that the search for Harris — who has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of terroristic threats — has widened to multiple states, although he would not provide specifics.

The victim, Catherine Ferreira, 27, of Salem, had encountered Harris Tuesday night inside the McDonald's restaurant on East Broadway. Harris, who was on duty at the time, allegedly left the eatery and followed Ferreira down a path in back of the restaurant.

On the path, the video shows Harris repeatedly beating Ferreira, knocking her down and cursing at her. Harris is also seen threatening Ferreira's 2-year-old son.

Harris is also seen kicking Ferreira and spitting on her before leaving the scene. Ferreira suffered a broken nose and numerous contusions to her face.

In an interview Thursday, Ferreira said she was afraid not only for herself but for her son who is seen in the video kicking Harris attempting to stop her from hitting his mother.

"I became really afraid," Ferreira said in an interview Thursday. "I thought she may have been capable of hitting my son. I mean, her size versus my size — she could have killed me."

Harris has not been seen in the city since the night of the beating. Ferreira was treated at The Memorial Hospital of Salem County and is recuperating at home.

No one in the crowd of about a dozen people who watched the beating in person called authorities for help. It was not until Ferreira appeared at the gatehouse at Harvest Point apartments — at the other end of the path from McDonald's — did someone call for help.

Bail has already been set for her at $35,000 cash.

Brutal Salem assault captured on video

WARNING: This video contains scenes of violence and explicit language which may be disturbing to some viewers. An amateur video posted on Facebook, but since removed, shows a woman being savagely beaten Tuesday night in Salem City as her young son watches and tries to intervene.

Pelura said a bail bondsman had contacted him Thursday and the chief urged the bail bondsman to have Harris turn herself in.

"Police have been in contact with Harris' family and are being told they are also pleading for her to turn herself in," Pelura said.

"No information has been received as to if or when she would turn herself in. Harris continues to elude police."

The chief said giving up is the right thing for her to do at this point.

Asked what he would tell her, he said "make it easy so you don't have to continue to look over your shoulder (for fear of being arrested) ... let's get due process started."

So far authorities have received what Pelura described as "a few tips" on Harris's whereabouts but with no positive results.

"We are still asking Harris to turn herself into any police department, with an attorney if she feels necessary," Pelura said. "Police have been in contact with Harris' family and are being told they are also pleading for her to turn herself in.

A more recent photograph of Harris was released by the Salem Police Department Friday.

As a fugitive, Harris's name has been entered into the National Crime Information Center computer.

A search of criminal records found in December 2010 shows that she had been charged with hindering prosecution, but she was entered into the a pre-trial intervention program which she successfully completed and served no jail time.

Records show that Harris was born in Philadelphia. Reports are that the city is one of the places where alerts have been put out for her capture.

Anyone with information on Harris is asked to call Salem City Police Department at 856-935-0057.
