I am not sure about the basis for the correlation (except for the fact that MUEI has - so far profitable - contract manufacturing division and some exposure to DRAMs through SpekTec line), but it is a strong one - just look at the charts.

On the other hand, MU may not drop too far on the earnings - nobody in his mind expects them to make money on DRAMs this quarter. I think MUEI earnings and what they say during CC are more important.
