Beachbumm,

Where does it say that we can not have a bear market because the utilities are making new highs? Where does it say we can not have a bear market because bond yield are below 6%? The past performance of any market is not a sure sign of what is going to happen in the future! Who would have ever thought that yields in Japan could go as low as they have gone and the market is setting close to it's low since hitting all time highs a few years ago!

As far as deflation, what really scares me is sure I think we are having wage inflation, but companies are having a very hard time in passing along those cost to consumers! Back in the 70's we had stage flation which was a whole new concept, so I believe we could be entering a new era, but do not know what the experts will end up calling it! The Asian countries will export deflation to us and we are having wage inflation and I'm betting it can not last long with both forces working against one another!

You mentioned that Greenspan will raise rates in 98, so how will that be bullish for the markets?

As far as STEI, we have been investors in this stock since right after it went public, and if you will look at how the death care stocks perform in slow times you may decide that you might want to own some of them! People still pass away during bad times and tend to spend more on funerals during those times also for what ever reason!
