There are a lot of "features" of ACA that kill competition but I would argue the most important is the limitation on gross margins, since this will prevent insurance companies from accumulating adequate reserves over time. Restricting the ability of insurers to provide policies that meet their customers' needs is also anticompetitive, however, since an insurer who wants to offer a policy, e.g., without maternity coverage or contraceptive coverage, is unable to do so. In fact, community rating kills competition in many respects.
