Bob: About Gate's running scared. Right there with you buddy.

>The PC industry is scared as hell that consumers are going to spend
their discretionary income to upgrade their TVs and not buy more PCs
starting next year. Intel is hedging its bets, big time, by jumping over to also join the CE industry, including the acceptance of Zenith's patented VSBi interlaced transmission system versus the progressive scan recommend by Gates.>

In addition to timing a re-entry into ZE, I'm betting on the trend toward Network Computers. In 2-3 years the thick-client PC's are going to be looked upon as dinosaurs.

>>Nobody has reported this story. It's not in anyone's self interest
including the CE industry, until after the holidays when the last
holiday shopper has loaded up her cart with yesterday's TV tech.>>

Totally agree.

>>If you want to point out possible ZE short players, look right to
Redmond as the prime suspect. Who has most to lose by a dead home PC
market and wants most to win the control of the living room, too?>>

Exploding bandwidth is the next killer-app. ZE will ride this wave. We just need to stay away from the current Tsunami.

>>If I was Gates, I'd be sweating too.>>

Bill is acting like a caged tiger. Justice lawsuit. The rise of Java. Delays and shortcomings in NT. Investments in Comcast and Apple that do not bring control.

The world is moving away from his closed, control-oriented, selfish power platform. Java, open systems, supported by global IP networks is the way everything will go. ZE could be the CE manufacturer that helps accelerate this trend. High, middle-end HDTV's, low-end NC's (network computers with embedded Java-based system/chips) connected to digital fiber, digital wireless, cable-modem or satellite powered Internet/Intranet/Extranet or Virtual Private Network access to wherever you want to go.

Keep up the good work Bob!
