The book is just off the presses and written by an Ex-Morgan Stanley employee who was one of their top guns in deriavatives up until a couple of years ago. A very well written and enlightening book!

Timba:

Regarding Asia. People are just starting to feel the displacement.

If you go to our banking crisis you'll remember the tax act was effective 1/1/86 bankers still lent till after the Oct. 87 crash and real estate prices still went up (at least in CT) until the spring of 88. CBT (largest CT bank @ the time) survived until 89. The construction and banking layoffs didn't start until late 88.

There will be a lot of layoffs in the Asian countires. A lot of pain and suffering will have to be worked through before the countries economies recover. At least for the momment in the US if someone loses their job there are opportunities (although I can write more on that subjuct) that was not the case a few years ago and I doubt if thats the case in Asia.

May be a short term benefit for IOM (my new gig cartridge is made in malsyia) where exports will be cheaper BUT even if the far east ONLY represents 5% of our exports that 5% impacts the margin and profitabilty growth of the US exporters. Lower growth expectations equates to lower stock prices (I'm a great forecaster with hindsight, wish I saw this impact in beginning of Oct).

Best regards,

Tim
