If COTs serve any purpose it is the knowledge that it is what the bullion banks want the market to see.
I would look at this data more that we just saw one of the largest short coverings in history but that is what makes a market
BTW Butler does not exactly have a good long term record going back over a decade and would see such a view as bullish for the market
IMO gold takes a run up to test $1400 in the next couple of weeks. If the big boys really wanted to short this market they would so it after a hard ramp
