...what you say is true only if the business is a corporation or partnership, and the business is the one doing the investing .... therefore they would not be "fully deductible", at least in the legal sense.

Let's say you are a general contractor. You might subscibe to an email news service to have access to weather reports, economic data, etc. You might subscribe to Value Line, S&P WSJ, IBD, Briefing, etc. to be able to follow news in the general contracting business, bond markets, your suppliers, competitors, etc. If you happen to utilize the subscription for personal investing as well.....
