We went in with SF's first and worked with the Northern Alliance and whoever would work with us. That was the fastest way to do it, even if the allies were less than perfect. And speed was of the essence. Once the Taliban was falling, AQ rabbited to Pakistan with the Pakistanis help.

I doubted the wisdom of putting in big numbers of American troops. We were never going to make Afghanistan into a different kind of country.
