"Government is supposed to control and oversee our lives to a certain degree. "

I don't see that in our constitution, I see the opposite. But if I give you the benefit of doubt then you would have no right to complain if the government were under the control of far right administrators. They have already warned you that when they are empowered it will be pay back time. This view positions you and me as a victim of the whims of the powerful and elite in government. I reject it on a personal level and on philosophical grounds. I have no idea why you would want to subject yourself to that but maybe you can explain it.

The government is supposed to protect our natural rights in a way that helps secure a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

I would rather have government control me than corporations.

Big government enables more than restrains abuses by corporations. Corporations can't control you when government is limited, unless the actually directly use force to control you and set themselves up as quasi-governments.
