It's the same old story – China. If they get some relief from Sinovel, then the stock may move up. At present, the other irons in the fire, so to speak, comprise some rather weak sales of wind power components and equally weak sales of superconducting wire for grid improvement, other than in Korea. I am also a long hold on these shares, but luckily only a small amount of them. I can't tell whether it's management inability to deal with these problems or competition in both the wind and grid segments.

It's possible that China's interest in cracking down on corruption may extend to Sinovel, especially if the issues of piracy (stealing trade secrets) impair an improvement in relations with the U.S. It's too early to tell if anything positive is happening in this area. Yet recent daily volume has increased substantially, making one wonder what exactly is going on. There could be some insider trading here. Or there could be an attempt of a Chinese company (backed perhaps by the state) anxious to acquire AMSC and its technology at bargain prices. It's happened before with companies that have certain technology the Chinese need. The Chinese usually look for good technology in companies that are almost broke. AMSC fits the pattern.
