JHC44, of course, I wasn't trying to go through the whole process, which also includes multiplying your profit by .9235 before figuring the self-employment tax. This brings the "profit" to a comparable calculation point to where employees wages are calculated.

And of course, for the same reason you get to deduct the 1/2 of your self-employment tax before calculating income tax.
