The importance of executive orders is inherently qualitative in nature, not quantitative. Liberal constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley has testified on this issue before Congress. There are executive orders that are benign, and there are others that are devastatingly illegal. Obama has produced an inordinate number of devastatingly illegal ones. Merely adding up the totals is about as shallow an argument as one can make and reflects either an intent to mislead or a fundamental misunderstanding. Not all executive orders are alike and the pretense that they are speaks volumes.

An irrelevant statistic. Its the nature of the orders.....not the quantity...

Here lets compare the totals of 2 COMPLETE TERM PRESIDENTS, and compare that number against a single 1 1/2 TERM PRESIDENT... A more fair comparison would be Bill Clinton and Obama which have issued a total of 544 to date.. And we still have another 2 1/2 years to go. Many of Bush's Executive Orders had to do with our War on Terrorism after 9/11. Establishing Homeland Security,etc. Versus, Obama's First Executive order, drafted only days after being sworn in, with the promise of providing "The most Transparent Administration in History". Dealt with the Increase in Presidential power to invoke "Executive Privilege" over Presidential Records.
