So, your argument is it isn't worth doing?

This isn't a huge issue with me, but it does seem reasonable to protect the country's borders and fences are a proven way of doing it. They're not perfect, but they're better than nothing, and I suspect the cost of building it would be quickly recovered making it a worthwhile expenditure.
