SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California's minimum wage will rise to $9 an hour when a new law takes effect on Tuesday and provides workers with the first such increase since 2008.

That amount will increase again to $10 an hour starting on Jan. 1, 2016, under AB10, which Gov. Jerry Brownsigned into law last fall.

I have no interest in blowing money for economic stimulus, because it doesn't work (see: Obama's stimulus, nearly six years ago, which by their own metrics failed to do anything at all). <1>

But a great country cannot remain a great country unless it has some kind of barrier to entry and standards for admission.<1><2>

<1> Not intended to be a factual statement.
<2> Which we have. For more than a century, people have come here to work and then gone back. California, in particular, has been the most vocal proponent of having low wage workers with no rights. People in agriculture claim they would go out of business if that changed. Calling them illegal only perpetuates it because they will come anyway.

Fixed it.

OK, Bush/Cheney economic disaster with Depression rates...GDP dropping at 8.9% per month, 750,000 Americans losing their jobs per month, American auto industry in free fall as is the housing sector, banking industry in shambles and what stopped and turned the economy to where we have today the best job numbers since 1999...
Yup, the President Obama Stimulus, the Auto Bailout, Cash for Clunkers, Housing Finance Programs initiated by the Obama Administration and TARP that only got passed because Obama led Democrats supported it against repug opposition while McCain/Palin called for meetings in DC and then had no clue what to do.

Yup, President Obama, his leadership and programs plus a very helpful FED did it against the party of NO.

All your BS cannot overcome FACTS!
