Good morning Sonki, RE:hey, u know that Beird's town ladies that do research and invest to gether? Maybe we can be the Net ladies, or virtual town ladies, that does sound like fun. Maybe we would even get to go on WSW or CNBC <g> What a hoot. Thank goodness for JR, we needed something to save us. About your mother and your trainer and who is right. I would say that they are both right. (On your mother's side): It has been said that energy needs often decrease with advancing age. For one thing, the number of active cells in each organ decreases, reducing the body's overall metabolic rate (although much of this loss may not be inevitable). For another, older peoplle usually reduce their physical activity and so their lean tissue diminishes. (on your trainer's side): Current thinking, however, seems to refute the idea that declining energy needs are unavoidable. Physical activity probably holds the key not only to maintaining energy needs but to upholding many other functions as well. Sonki, just keep building those muscles through exercise and weight training and reducing your fat through aerobics and you will have your own answer to who is right. If you think about it, lately, you have reduced your activity in such things as hiking and skiing and that is probably why you have seen a change. Also the amount of times you eat during the day effects your metabolism. If you eat once a day, that is not good for your metabolism, whereas if you eat six small meals a day, that is good for your metabolism. Good luck to you. Have a good day.
