Well for starters, since the excess production of children in Central and South America is largely the result of the Catholic Church's prohibition of most methods of birth control, I would start by confiscating enough of the church wealth to at least pay for the cost of securing the border.

"This immigration problem must be dealt with by our entire society.in a thoughtful and humane manner."

Immigration reform is needed, but not for this, which simply requires people to step up and do the right thing.
Honduras says they will be flying 2500 kids home/week. That's doing the right thing. Mexico needs to control their southern border. The one reform we need right now is to speed up deportation.

How about putting boots on the ground in Central America, like gang task forces, under the Monroe Doctrine, to prevent failed a bunch of nation states in our hemisphere?

An Arizona Congressman is set to propose legislation that would allow federal authorities to immediately return Central American illegal child immigrants apprehended at the U.S. border back to their home countries.

U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon will introduce the bill early this week, according to the Arizona Republic.

If passed, the bill would undo a part of a 2008 law that requires U.S. Customs and Border Protection to turn over unaccompanied immigrant children from countries that do not border the U.S. to the Department of Health and Human Services.
