beautiful.....

i thing he was meant to be born in brasil ... -g

tremendous speed, amazing dribbling creativity, incredible ball control, but i think his best skill is the ability to simply place the ball in such a way that no goalie could ever reach it.... and this applies whether it is a free kick, a mid distance shot, or.... which i believe is his greatest ability.... after a run leaving 3, 4, or more defenders behind, then he globes the ball above the keeper's head at the right time, elevation, and places it in the net with the most incredible ease..... i mean.... it looks very easy... but it is not....

when you see these goals you wonder why argentina, in this WC has been wining their matches with the minimal difference and at times in a way that they just barely make it..... as if it was a challenge to win matches with the absolute most MINIMAL effort.... on purpose.....

here is my take.... in all of those goals, he had the assist of xavi and iniesta (and others) primarily form the barcelona team.... and i am wondering two things....

argentina the team.... like brasil... in this cup, it is mediocre team.... (take away messi and neymar jr.) the other possibility is they are saving their hide (not neymar) because of the money they make in the clubs....

i do not know, the above is just speculation.... but

another thing that makes comparison between players from different eras is that today's footballer are more like super athletes... like gladiators. i think that physically, they are far better prepared than back a few years ago. i think competition is much fiercer and therefore, stamina becomes far more important...

either way..... it is incredible to watch them... as for argentina -v- holland.... well, if messi plays the way in those videos.... (asssuming that argentina plays a better supporting role to messi), then argentina should not have a problem defeating holland.... but messi (or argentina) needs to score at least 2 if not 3 gols.... as we saw with mexico, one cannot rest and take for granted a 1 x 0 difference is a done deal

great gols for sure.

i like # 4 (against mexico).... i love those gols where you just hit the ball hard enough to 'place it' in a way that the goallie *no matter what he does* just cannot reach it
