Unfortunately, democracy requires and educated, informed and engaged electorate, which we mostly lack.>.

Absolutely! Which is why I pound the drum for free public education starting at 2.5 years and continuing all the way through a PHD (if they want).

To make things worse we have this idea high school and four years of college is what people need to be adequately educated. That is not enough and still leaves a lot of intellectual capability on the table. What people fail to realize is that all of us are greatly under educated.

IMO, to start with, the average person needs about 18 years of education to be able to start handling logic and abstract thinking well. And society should accommodate that. It is in the best interest of everyone.

You want to cut down crime, inequality, inhumanity and help people live a happy and healthy life, then help them get educated.

And even after 18 straight years, it is still not enough if one wants to be a great thinker and to see deep into the abstract world of logic and reality. Deep into the mysteries of the universe. That takes a lifetime of pretty constant study..

All our great thinkers have one thing in common. They devoted their life to learning.

Ex-dopers have told me that's why people use drugs - it's the boredom, they say:

Most men would rather shock themselves than be alone with their thoughts
