Yes Japan had a property value bubble - not unlike our housing bubble. It was obviously unsustainable and Japan has been forced to deleverage. Problem is the compounding problem of deleveraging at the same time the population would be deleveraging due to the demographics problem. So how to stimulate your way out of that? You can't and they didn't. The Japanese aren't stupid - they tried in every which way to reinvigorate their economy. But some pundits still make the weird conclusion - devoid at looking at ALL the facts - that Japan didn't stimulate enough.
