Who gives a pass to how they treat women? No one. They suck. Find anyone here who approves of anything they do wrt their treatment of women. I can't stand religiosity made manifest in government, or religiosity that interferes with the freedom of other people- and I've been very clear that includes Muslims, and it definitely includes their treatment of women. The Muslim mullahs don't happen to live where I do (I have to deal with their craptastic Christian blood brothers). I don't think there is anyone on this thread who can stand fundamentalists- and I don't think anyone here can stand Muslim fundamentalists any more than Xtian ones- but hey, maybe I'm wrong.

On the other hand, I would not interfere in other countries just because I don't like what they do- because I would not be able to be reciprocal about that. I don't want foreign countries interfering here, just because they don't like the way we do things, So obviously, in order not to be a total hypocrite, I need to give other countries some space. But that's not approval, that's accepting the sovereignty of other nations.

I think the left may dislike Muslim society even more than the right, we're just not stupid enough to think that we can change their societies by invading them, or bombing them in to accepting that our way of life is correct.

Maybe give equal time to Jewish culture's treatment of women

Women of the Wall - Rosh Chodesh Nisan (March) 2010. Before we even began davening, the Haredi men threw a ton of chairs over the mechitzah. Thank goodness the police arrived and it was all peaceful after that.
