(who i fail to understand why the coach took him out in the second half) second half... roles reversed... holland took the initiative and became the slightly more aggressive team but again... in this instance the work by the argentinean defense (mainly garay and zabaleta), neutralized the efforts mostly by robben, van persie, and sneijder.... as the game was ending, both teams started playing extremely defensive, as they did not want to take excessive risk going to the attack.... this produced sporadic plays in which -mostly argentina could have scored.... although the dutch (robben) had a great chance in the last minute of regular time, but macherano blocks his effort..... the extra time periods was a clear strategy of all defense to run lone counter-attacks to see if they could be successful on those attacks.... BOTH teams figured that they would try their skill (and luck) at the penalty shots..... and is it turned out ... romero (argentina's goalie) was the hero of the match... not a spectacular game, but very strategic and both teams played well, i was a little surprised the dutch actually missed two penalty shots.... they looked very much in control against costa rica.... and i was expecting the same.... as far as the penalties went..... holland looked like costa rica, and argentina looked like the dutch in the game against the ticos..... so now..... we have brasil -v- holland for the 3rd/4th place.... (a small chance for brasil to redeem itself) and the final will be germany - v- argentina great final between europeans and latinamericans
