It's the American way. I abide by all laws and bend over backwards to do so. I also favor changing those laws. But to not take advantage of of the laws as written is nothing short of dumb. Dumb isn't even a harsh enough word - completely devoid of anything meaningful between the ears is more appropriate.

i was, too. I'd been not wanting to pay taxes for wars I was against since my first 1040. Ain't EZ, especially, as you point out, withholding has to be clawed back. Maxed out my 401 K, which meant giving up over 60% of my paycheck as the end of the year approached. Stopped working overtime and turned down as much work as I could, which is really hard to do, and got a $2000 credit from Uncle Sam for my solar.

Lots of people paid to bomb Iraq in '06, but I wasn't one of them.
