he was a gas, yes. very much so. unfortunately a past tense.
but i still laugh at his remembrance. had a way about him, he did.

i left town for several months at one point and he sub-let my
basement apartment. it was pretty nice all around. a bitty yard
with calla lillies, even. but the bathroom sucked. only a shower
and it had a cement floor. but it worked. there was the matter
of the spiders. daddy-longlegs. the bathroom and shower were full
of 'em. now me and the spiders co-existed. as long as they didn't
get on me, i didn't really care if they hung out. but aldo was
way scared of 'em. hated them. so i told him to do whatever he
needed to do in regards to the spiders. well, when i got back to
town, he rather sheepishly directed me to the bathroom. i knew
somethin' was up. "what'd ya do, aldo?" he just pointed. i went
in and there were burn marks all over the walls and in the shower.
his method of killing them was to shoot 'em with hairspray then
light 'em on fire. effective but a bit hard on the walls. there
he was, standing with his hands folded in front of his huge self,
his eyes kinda pleading. "i'm really, really scared of 'em."
heck, i did tell him to do whatever he had to. so i got some paint.
